Classic Wooden Dinghy Limited is a limited company owned and managed by experienced and enthusiastic owners of Brightlingsea One Design Classic Wooden Sailing Dinghies.

The dinghies are 18 foot long and were designed in the early 1900’s for cruising and racing on the East Coast Rivers and North Sea. The fleet were mainly re-rigged from a bowsprit design of the 1920’s to a Bermudian rig in the 1950’s.

These classic wooden dinghies are well found cruiser/racers for three or up to six when gently cruising and one even survived a disaster in New York State in the 1950’s when many larger vessels foundered.

Our offering is a day or part day sailing with an experienced helm in these wooden classic dinghies from anything between a family cruise to a close fought class dinghy race series for experienced helms and crews.

The classic wooden dinghies will sail in company from our base in Brightlingsea into the Colne or Blackwater in company with other dinghies and supported by a safety boat.

The customer only needs to bring warm clothing and all protective and safety equipment will be provided as will essential instructions.

Overall we expect to provide moderate exercise in pleasant surroundings in a unique classic wooden dinghy.
